Smålandet Markaryds Älgsafari, czyli spotkanie z łosiami / Meet the moose

Mimo niesprzyjającej sytuacji udało się nam wyjechać na kilka dni w nasz długi majowy weekend! Miała być Barcelona albo Istambuł, a ostatecznie pojechaliśmy do Smalandii, czyli mniej więcej tak daleko, jak zezwala szwedzki rząd 🙂 Smalandia to głównie piękne krajobrazy i malownicze czerwone domki oraz słynny Świat Astrid Lindgren. Niestety ze względu na corone obecnie nieczynny.

Ale przecież są też inne atrakcje, np safari z łosiami! Takich parków w Smalandii jest co najmniej kilka. Czym się różnią? Wielkością, cena, sposobem interakcji ze zwierzętami. My wybraliśmy Smålandet Markaryds Älgsafari dlatego, że zwierzęta żyją tam na 15 h terenie, a my wjeżdżamy na teren parku samochodem (lub pociągiem) i liczymy na to, że król lasu się nam pokaże. Trasa w parku ma 3 km i jadąc własnym samochodem możemy ją przejechać ile razy tylko zechcemy. My zrobiliśmy to 3 razy. Wjeżdżając rano ok 11 byliśmy praktycznie sami i mogliśmy podziwiać odpoczywające łosie bardzo długo. Przy drugiej rundzie mieliśmy więcej szczęścia, bo udało się nam zobaczyć łosie kąpiące się w jeziorku, jedzące, a na koniec pewna łosica, nazwana przez Gabrysię, Nosy (Wścibska, Ciekawska), postanowiła nie tylko dać się pogłaskać, ale również wsadzić łeb do naszego samochodu! Tego się nie spodziewaliśmy! Dzieci były zachwycone. Trzecia runda nic nam już nie dala, bo w parku zaczynało robić się bardziej tłoczno, do tego jechał pociąg, więc dla nas to już tłum.

Oprócz łosi w parku jest wydzielona część, gdzie mieszkają bizony. Z nimi też mieliśmy dosyć bliskie spotkania, bo jeden z młodych bardzo dokładnie obwąchiwał nasz samochód przez dłuższą chwile. Musze przyznać, że trochę się przestraszyliśmy ogromnych bizonów kierujących się w nasza stronę, ale chyba zupełnie niepotrzebnie, skoro nie robią krzywdy ludziom w pociągu bez okien.

Po ponad godzinie spędzonej wśród łosi był czas na przerwę w kawiarni oraz głaskanie kózek w zagrodzie. Szczerze mówiąc planowaliśmy zjeść na miejscu lancz, ale okazało się, że restauracja jest jeszcze nieczynna. Na szczęście jest też kawiarnia, a w niej mega gofry z lodami, śmietaną i dżemem oraz pyszne kanapki z krewetkami. Do tego kawiarnia mieści się w starej chacie i jest bardzo klimatyczna. Na koniec wdrapaliśmy się na szczyt wieży widokowej, żeby podziwiać panoramę okolicy.

Info praktyczne: Smålandet Markaryds Älgsafari leży 1,5 godz drogi z Malmö, więc można się tam udać na jednodniowa wycieczkę. Na teren parku możemy wjechać własnym samochodem lub pociągiem. Pociąg jest droższy (dorośli: 175 sek, dzieci 3-12 lat: 115 sek), jedzie tylko jedno okrążenie, ale jest przewodnik. Samochodem możemy jeździć w kółko nawet cały dzień (dorośli: 135 sek, dzieci 3-12 lat: 90 sek). Na terenie parku jest restauracja (otwarta tylko w wysokim sezonie) oraz kawiarnia (zimą nieczynna).

Despite the unfavorable situation, we managed to get away for a few days during our long May weekend! It was supposed to be Barcelona or Istanbul, but eventually we went to Småland, which is more or less as far as the Swedish government allows 🙂 Småland is mainly known for its beautiful landscapes and picturesque red houses, and the famous World of Astrid Lindgren. Unfortunately, it is currently closed due to corona.

But there are other attractions as well, such as the moose safari! There is at least a handful of such parks in Småland. What is the difference between them? The size, the price and the way of interacting with the animals. We chose Smålandet Markaryds Älgsafari because the animals live there on 15 ha area, we enter the park by car (or train) and we hope that the king of the forest will show up. The route in the park is 3 km and we can drive it as many times as we want when driving our own car. We did it 3 times. When entering in the morning around 11 we were practically alone and we could admire the moose resting for a very long time. At the second round we were more lucky, because we were able to see the moose bathing in the lake, eating, and at the end one of the moose, named Nosy by Gabrysia, decided not only to be petted, but also to put the head into our car! We certainly didn’t expect that! The children were delighted. The third round did not add to our experience, because the park was starting to get crowded already.

In addition to the moose, there is a separate section in the park where bison live. We also had quite close encounters with them, because one of the young sniffed our car thoroughly for a long time. I must admit that we were a bit scared of the huge bison heading towards us, but probably unnecessarily, since they do not hurt people on the train and that one doesn’t even have windows.

After more than an hour spent among the moose, there was time for a break in the cafe and petting the goats in the yard. To be honest, we planned to eat lunch there, but it turned out that the restaurant is still closed. Fortunately, there is also a cafe with great waffles with ice cream, whipped cream and jam, and delicious shrimp sandwiches. In addition, the cafe is located in an old cottage and is extremely cosy. Finally, we climbed to the top of the observation tower to admire the panorama of the area.

Practical info: Smålandet Markaryds Älgsafari is 1.5 hours from Malmö, so you can make it as a day trip. You can enter the park with your own car or by train. The train is more expensive (adults: 175 sek, children 3-12 years: 115 sek), there is only one round, but there is a guide. With the car we can drive around all day long (adults: 135 sek, children 3-12 years: 90 sek). The park has a restaurant (open only in high season) and a cafe (closed in winter).
